O’Dette is a single mother of ten children. She farms to provide food for her family, but it’s not enough. Often they eat only rice, and frequently the family does not eat at all during the day. At the moment they don’t have money for seeds, and their house is falling down. Sponsorship level: $24 per month.
Guerline is a single mother of two children. They and the family they are staying with share one can of rice, once a day. She does not work, but would like to start a small business and go to school. Sponsorship level: $24 per month.
Munette is a lively and fiery mother of four children, none of whom are going to school. Her home was recently burned down, and the stock of supplies for her small business were destroyed. Her family eats one or two meals a day, but it is just rice (there are no vegetables or meat to put in it). Sponsorship level: $24 per month
Louis lives in one of the poorest slums in Haiti. She has four children, two of whom are living as indentured servants with other families. She is sick, her children don’t go to school, and they often don’t eat during whole days. Sponsorship level: $24 per month.
Gertrude lives in a slum perched on the side of a mountain in Port- au- Prince, Haiti. She is the mother of six children, who are not going to school. Her family shares one can of rice per day for eight people, sometimes with no vegetables. Sometimes they go all day without eating. Sponsorship level: $24 per month.
